The mission of the Gilded Sands

To put it simply, the Gilded Sands seeks to be the governing body of the companionship profession worldwide. Bringing an end to the abusive, harmful, and dehumanizing way prostitution is currently practiced across the whole of Eorzea. In it's place, are Guild-sanctioned establishments and lounges that staff both Courtesans and Companions. Providing safe, and protected placed of employment. Client screening, registration, and accountability for behavior. Health care, lodging, and a living wage scaled to the cost of living for the region they occupy. In addition to schools which provide not only job training, but standard education as well to their in-training Courtesans.By charging clients a 'subscription fee' for access to these businesses, and their staff. The power is placed entirely within an individuals hands in terms of choosing their own clients, and how to serve them. With sex no longer being the expectation of an interaction, or even an offered service to patrons and clients.

The Difference between Courtesans and Companions

While both are employed by the Gilded Sands, the differences between them are quite heavy.

Courtesans

The most common of the companionship profession, and the most widely available, are the Courtesans. Upon finishing their required education and job training within the Guild sanctioned schools. They are often given work within the guild sanctioned establishments of the city, or permitted to do freelance work on their own. So long as they uphold the laws of the guild, they are given the full benefits of their affiliation and the backing of the guild systems and influence in their business practices. While sex is not the focus, or a service offered to their clients and patrons. If a courtesan deems a client worthy of it, they are free to indulge in those activities with them. Courtesans are considered middle class, and paid accordingly through their salary. They do not work on commission, and cannot take payment from customers for their time, or services.

Companions

Rare in comparison to the courtesans, the companions of the gilded sands are far more cloistered and steeped in tradition. Trained from a young age in secluded enclaves, they are only permitted lives beyond the enclave walls upon receiving their endorsements. They are well educated, multi-talented, and living, breathing works of art when it comes to their profession. To them, companionship is an art form and they are Masters of their craft. They are considered Upper class, and paid accordingly through their salary. They do not work on commission and cannot take payment from customers for their time or services. In addition, companion's are not permitted to have sex with non-honored clients. As such their interactions err on the more platonic, and conversational even when being sensual and affectionate.

Establishment Rules (IC)

Weapons are not allowed passed the Foyer

Upon entry, all guests will be expected to check their weapons in with the front desk. While weapons are permitted for use, and can be retrieved again for that purpose - as well as when you choose to leave us. If our staff finds you armed in the wrong areas, you will be offered a warning and your weapon politely claimed for the duration of your stay. However repeat offenders may find themselves facing firmer consequences.

Be courteous to staff and other patrons

Viridian prides itself on it’s calm, soothing, and relaxing environment. As such, we ask that within our walls that you keep any troublemaking, or abrasive behaviors outside our doors. If approached by staff, know that they're merely doing their jobs - and cooperation and communication goes a long way with us. Given we are a neutral place, know that while you might have some issues with another of our patrons. Express them outside our estate grounds, and not inside, as such behavior will not be tolerated and may result in your removal.

Stay within approved areas

We have many spaces outside the main establishment that are open to our guests. All of which have been clearly labeled as ‘public’, and can be used and accessed at any time during your visit. However please do not wander into ‘client’ spaces unless you are one with us, or into our staff’s private rooms without permission.

No nudity in public areas

Outside of our bathhouse, in which nudity is acceptable for those used to such traditions. We ask that all our guests remain clothed, or at least wrapped up in the supplied bathrobes while in transit. Within all other areas of Viridian.

No fighting is permitted within Viridian

While we understand that some may cross another they have had issues with, or someone whose views are not agreed with. We ask that all our patrons abide by our expectation of neutrality, and compose themselves accordingly within our walls. While training spars are allowed within our training room - only minor scuffs or injuries are acceptable. If you're going to have to settle your differences with aggression, or violence. Do so far away from our estate, and without our involvement.

Do not solicit staff for sexual services

We are not a brothel, escort lounge, or pillow house. While we do staff companions, and courtesans - the gilded sands does not tolerate prostitution, and sexual services are not something we offer at Viridian. In fact, asking our staff for sex is considered a high insult - and thus heavily frowned upon within our establishment. If you're wanting those services, or attention, there are many other places you can go that would appreciate the business.

Establishment Rules (OOC)

No OOC chatter outside of Tells/Party

As a heavy Rp establishment and setting, we generally treat anything ‘posted’ within our estate as in character. As such, we ask that all OOC communication remain in private channels, and not posted unless it’s absolutely needed publicly. In the event that you do need to address multiple people at once, please keep it to a minimum, and within ()’s

No one liners/one line RP

Due to the fact we cater our RP experience more towards Semi-para, para, and multi-para posters. In addition to limiting the confusion between IC and OOC chatter. We ask that while you're interacting with those within viridian, please keep your posts above two sentences in length.

Our take on minions

You can have minions out whenever you want while within Virdian. However, please note that any ‘pet’ or ‘minion’ you do have out with you, will be treated as IC and likely brought up in roleplay as a result. To avoid confusion, try not to have them out if your character wouldn’t actually have that with them.

Worn weapons will be treated as IC

Part of our IC rules is that weapons will not be allowed beyond the foyer. So if you want to avoid any potential confusion, or unexpected approaches by our staff ICly. Then please toggle those off when within our establishment, and areas where they aren't allowed.

While in the bathhouse, keep all RP to private

Given that some characters are shy about themselves, especially nude. Or players can be a bit shy about rping in such settings to begin with. We ask as a courtesy, that all Rp that happens within our public Bathhouse be kept to private tells, or in party chat if you're with a group. If our staff approach you, and post at you - they will do so in tells as well.

If the rp is private, do not post publicly

As a rule of thumb, if we see you posting publicly - we will treat it as an open Rp and thus freely able to either start rp with you, or join you. As such, if you’ve planned a private or ‘closed’ rp with someone, or even a member of our own staff. Please keep your posts to either party, or tells. If you're alone however, and haven’t posted in a while, we may drop you a friendly whisper asking if you're open for RP.

Our NPC’s are there to serve, not be your personal army

While some of them might make one hell of a butler, our NPC staff are not trained in combat. Or how to handle aggressive altercations. As such, feel free to use them as hotel staff; Order drinks, food, bring you towels, etc. But don’t command our NPC’s to serve you outside of their intended purpose. They will -totally- rat you out to the boss, and simply smile at you before saying ‘No’.

ERP is not a service our staff provides.

As it is also stated in our IC rules, Viridian is not a brothel, escort lounge, pillow house, or bordello. So if you are coming for Viridian in order to hire our staff for sex work, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Given our lore, we don’t allow for prostitution within our establishment. Thus, we focus more on the connection, and more companionship aspect of Companion RP. If you're wanting those services, there are plenty of establishments in FFXIV that cater to you.

Do not start fights/Drama

As a place of peace, relaxation, and neutrality for our patrons and staff alike. We generally prefer to focus more on calm, slice-of-life rp and character growth through character interactions instead of combat/drama heavy plotlines. Due to this, we ask that unless you’ve made us aware of something ahead of time and gotten the go ahead. That you keep such plotlines, and spillover out of our establishment. If you have arranged something with a member of our staff, as a courtesy keep it to private RP between you while within Viridian.

Keep potentially triggering conversations to private

Part of what our companions, and courtesans do is help people improve as individuals through interaction. As such, some topics of a character's rather painful past might come up as a result. For the safety of those around you OOCly, and ICly, please keep such emotionally heavy conversations to private RP channels. This ensures that unwanted eyes and ears aren't drawn your way, in addition to keeping others safe from possibly triggering subjects.

IC and OOC are to be kept Separate

The Decisions, actions, opinions, and the views of our characters are not the same as our own as players, and never should a roleplay lead to any form of OOC harassment, argument, or toxicity.If a scenario turns a way you are not comfortable with, or what you expected you are more than welcome to excuse yourself from it. We will not always have a roleplay go our way, but if you are feeling OOCly affected by IC occurrences we implore you to put your health first.
